We’re proud to share that HOMS Assist has been named Probate Law Firm of the Year at the 2026 LEAP Irish Law Awards.
But awards aren’t really about us. They’re about what they tell you when you’re choosing who to trust with something that matters. So here’s what this recognition means for you, your family, or the clients you refer to us.
Probate, handled with care
Probate is the legal process of administering a deceased person’s estate, sorting out their assets, settling any debts, and making sure everything passes to the right people. It’s rarely simple. And it almost always happens during a time of grief.
That’s the part many people don’t talk about. You’re managing paperwork, deadlines, and difficult decisions while you’re also coping with loss. You shouldn’t have to do it alone, and you shouldn’t have to decode legal language to understand what’s happening.
We also know that not every estate runs smoothly. Sometimes a will is challenged, a trust is questioned, or family members disagree about what’s fair. These situations are sensitive, and they can quickly become stressful.
HOMS Assist also handles contentious probate, including will and trust disputes. The team offers clear, strategic advice when conflict arises, working to resolve matters efficiently while protecting your interests. Having specialists who understand both the law and the emotions involved can make a real difference at a difficult time.
This is where good probate work shows its value. It’s not just technical know-how. It’s clear communication, sensitivity to what you’re going through, and a real person who responds when you need them. We explain each step in plain terms. We keep you updated. We take the weight off, so you can focus on what matters.
The team behind the recognition
This award reflects the work of our specialist probate team, who guide clients and families through estates of every size and complexity.
Claire Tuohy, Partner, leads with deep expertise in wills, trusts, and estate administration. She’s a member of STEP (the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, an international body for specialists in this field) and is qualified to practise in Ireland, England and Wales. That matters when an estate crosses borders, when there’s property abroad, or beneficiaries living overseas. Cross-border estates bring extra layers of tax and law, and Claire knows how to navigate them.
Alongside Claire, solicitors Jacqueline O’Connor and Olga Sandys bring the same blend of technical depth and genuine care. Olga handles everything from drafting wills to extracting Grants of Probate (the legal authority to administer an estate) and managing estate administration. Jacqueline focuses on wills, succession planning, and estate administration, always explaining each step clearly, with no pressure and no jargon.
Together, they make a complex process feel manageable.
Here when you need us, wherever you are
We support clients across Ireland, with offices in Dublin, Limerick and Cork. Wherever you’re based, and whatever your estate looks like, you’ll find the same standard of care and the same specialist knowledge.
For professional advisors, financial planners, accountants, and others who refer probate work, this is important. When you point a client our way, your reputation is part of the picture. We treat it that way. Your clients get clear communication, steady guidance, and a team that keeps them informed at every turn.
