Legal Executive – Probate

Job Overview

We are seeking a diligent and proactive Legal Executive – Probate to join our dynamic team. This role offers exceptional career prospects, a competitive salary, and a comprehensive benefits package. The successful candidate will assist with various probate processes, provide support to solicitors, and act as the primary contact for clients and external parties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with taking instructions from clients.
  • Prepare Wills, Statement of Affairs (Form SA2), and IT38.
  • Draft and prepare Estate Accounts, Oaths, Bonds, Deeds of Assent, and Deeds of Transfer.
  • Liaise with financial institutions, probate offices, and other third parties.
  • Register documents in the PRA.
  • Draft and register EPAs and Wardship applications.
  • Prepare files for court – Briefs/Witnesses, etc.
  • Conduct archiving and manage the accounts ledger.
  • Act as the main contact person on behalf of the relevant fee earner.
  • Support solicitors in various areas, prioritise work, and meet continuous deadlines.
  • Work efficiently using your own initiative in a highly confidential environment.
  • Conduct own typing, scanning, filing, and telephone contact work.
  • Open new files and create/edit legal documents and templates.
  • Respond to queries and requests for information/assistance.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Legal Studies (advantageous).
  • Membership of IILEX (advantageous).

Experience and Skills

  • Experience drafting wills, probate papers, and assisting with will and probate files.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, unsupervised, in a busy environment.
  • Proven organisational and administrative skills along with excellent communication skills.
  • Positive attitude, proactive approach to work, and willingness to learn.
  • High degree of attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in IT skills.
  • Advising and dealing with new clients and referrals.
  • Experience in probate litigation, licensing, and conveyancing (advantageous).
